Gombolyag (19 degrees North latitude and 46.5 degree East longitude), a tiny village which is by no means a metropolis, is located in Bács-Kiskun County nestled between Kalocsa and Lake Szelidi in the farm region belonging to the settlement of Szakmár. Almost everything characteristic of the busy weekdays of today’s self-subsistent farmers, this simple, yet rewarding and at times very hard life can be found in the remote village with only 20 inhabitants.

Most of the houses in the village were built during the second half of the 20th century; however, are in a ruinous, run-down state. It is naturally understandable that young people search for the key to “their bright future” in cities, since everything has changed and working as day-labourers as a last resort is by no means a free ride, nor does it pay well. However, before it’s too late, we can show this enchanting, unbelievably tranquil, simple and untouched world, together with its joys and agonies to children taking part in open-air schools, summer camps or weekend trips; to the little people for whom this interaction with nature, the local people and animals roaming freely will be an experience they will cherish for a lifetime... Even if not straight away, but surely as soon as they return home to their busy metropolitan life…

The construction of the Youth House has been completed and we hope to soon be able to organise camps mostly catering for primary school children. We also plan to organise programmes for secondary and higher education students too. The children have almost infinite opportunities at the tips of their fingers due to the natural characteristics of the place, which is why we will be particularly focusing on organising sports and heal preservation programmes. We would also like to focus on folklore heritage, crafts, as well as arts and equally plan to hold language camps, as well as film, video and photography workshops.
